HAPPY PRIDE MONTH HILLCATS! 🌈🌈
We wanted to highlight some words in the acronym 2SLGBTQIA+ and what they actually mean!
We are all pretty familiar with the LGBT part of the acronym, but some of the letters that have been added may cause some confusion..
✨2S: Two-Spirit, this is a modern umbrella term used by some Indigenous people on Turtle Island (what is referred to as North American) to describe gender-variant individuals (a person who embodies both male and female spirits within them) in their communities. It is a term that should only be used by Indigenous people.
✨Q***r: Q***r is an umbrella term for s*xual and gender minorities that are not heteros*xual or cisgender. It has been reclaimed by the community, but because the word q***r was originally used pejoratively against those with same-s*x desires, not everyone is comfortable with the word q***r.
✨Questioning: The questioning of one’s gender and/or s*xuality is a process of exploration by people who may be unsure, still exploring, or concerned about applying a social label to themselves for various reasons.
✨Inters*x: Inters*x is socially constructed category that reflects a variation in s*x characteristics including chromosomes, go**ds, or ge****ls that do not seem to fit into typical definitions of male or female.
✨Pans*xual: Pans*xuality is a s*xual, romantic, or emotional attraction to people regardless of s*x or gender identity.
✨Agender: Agender people may identify as having no gender or being without any gender identity. This category includes a very broad range of identities which do not conform to traditional gender norms.
✨Gender Q***r: is an umbrella term for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine—identities which are outside of the gender binary.

MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS FOR ALL RSU STUDENTS!
Thanks to SHOO is offering FREE menstrual products to all students at RSU!
We are working on getting these products accessible in all buildings on campus but as of now all students can find this resource in Chapman Dining Hall!!
