Volunteers needed for a 10–15 minute psychology study.

PsyD students are looking for volunteers to test a short peer-support checklist called the Battle Buddy Risk Check (BBRC).

This tool is designed to help peers recognize noticeable changes in behavior that may relate to stress or safety in military and training environments. They’re gathering feedback to make sure it’s clear, practical, and useful.

Who can participate?
18 years or older + A current ROTC cadet, Reservist, veteran student, or active-duty service member

What happens when education meets community impact?

This Thursday, Austin Peay State University students across public health, nursing, medical laboratory science, and phlebotomy will be working side by side, applying their training in real time to serve Clarksville residents.

Together, they will provide heart disease risk screenings, health education, and meal resources, while gaining the kind of hands-on experience that defines APSU’s commitment to service and workforce readiness.

📅 Thursday, March 26 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
📍 Loaves and Fishes [825 Crossland Ave, Clarksville]

In partnership with APSU Food Pantry, Clarksville Parks & Recreation, and Loaves and Fishes, this "Govs Wellness Hub" event reflects what is possible when disciplines collaborate around a shared mission: caring for community.

Have you participated in therapy within the last year? We want to hear from you.

Researchers at Austin Peay State University are exploring how clients in Tennessee experience cultural match and mismatch in therapy — and how feeling understood (or not) impacts engagement, identity development, and the therapeutic relationship.

If you are:

• 18 years or older
• A current Tennessee resident
• Have participated in therapy within the past 12 months

We invite you to complete a brief survey.
Your insights can help improve culturally responsive mental health care across Tennessee and Southern communities.

This Friday (2/20), faculty, staff, and students are invited to join a brown bag presentation featuring Dr. Rong Huang from the APSU Department of Psychological Science and Counseling.

In "Child Development in the Contexts of Adversity: A Strengths-Based Perspective," Dr. Huang will explain how children develop and adapt in challenging environments, highlighting resilience, protective factors, and strengths that support healthy growth. Her work emphasizes moving beyond deficit-based views to better understand how relationships, environments, and supports can foster positive outcomes for children and families.

Friday, February 20 | 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
104 Health Professions Building

The presentation will also include two of Dr. Huang's students, Valeria Sanchez Ramirez and Gianella Villarrubia, who will also present insight on their ongoing study with military families.

Pack your lunch and join the conversation. All are welcome.
