The Tennessee Educational Leadership (TEL) Journal is accepting manuscripts for the Fall 2026 issue.

TEL is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes research, theoretical formulations, and ideas related to leadership, supervision, curriculum, and instruction. The journal is nonthematic, and we welcome a broad range of topics relevant to education professionals.

Big news from Dyersburg Intermediate School.

Technology coach and STEM teacher Brenda Gibson, an Austin Peay alumna who earned her M.A.Ed. in Educational Leadership Studies, is the West Tennessee recipient of this year's GOVing Tuesday "Increasing STEM Education in Rural Schools" award made possible by Austin Peay State University Alumni.

Dr. Hanrui He, Dr. Erica Boone, and Kevin Fee from the Eriksson College of Education surprised her with a $2,000 check to fund "Future Me" STEM Career Exploration. The project transforms her STEM lab into career-based stations where students use digital microscopes, robotics kits, force gauges, and anemometers to investigate real-world problems and track progress through a STEM Passport system.

The Eriksson College of Education is awarding a total of $6,000 to three rural educators across Tennessee's grand divisions. One more check drop is on the way, and the next stop is somewhere in Middle Tennessee!

Our own Dr. Bobette Bouton was featured on NewsChannel 5 Nashville this week! 📚

As our Teaching and Learning department chair and chairperson of the Imagination Library of Montgomery County, Bouton has helped distribute over ONE MILLION books to local children.

Following Dolly Parton's passing, Bouton shared the program's mission and vowed to carry it forward: "To keep this program running and to make a better world for our kids, we're going to have to invest as Dolly did."

As communities mourn Dolly Parton, the Montgomery County chapter of the Imagination Library says her mission to promote childhood literacy will continue as they send nearly 10,000 books each month.

We're excited to share that Dr. Hanrui He, who teaches instructional technology courses in the Department of Educational Specialties, has been named a recipient of the 2026 APSU Socrates Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. He was honored at this year's Faculty Conference and Annual Meeting for outstanding contributions to teaching, academic advising, and scholarship. Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved recognition!
