It is with profound sadness I share that our fellow Aggie friend and brother, John Percifield went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 22nd. John was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a long time supporter of the Johnson County A&M club. We honor him today. A service will be held on Saturday, August 30th 11AM at First United Methodist Church in Alvarado.

I have been contacted, through the A&M club page, by a recent graduate from Texas A&M, beginning a career near Orange, TX in August or September as a Field Chemist for Arcwood Environmental but is trying to find low cost housing in Alvarado, where she will be training for the next three months. Let me know if you have any ideas. She does have one small indoor cat. Litterbox trained. Thanks Ags.

The JCRW requests the pleasure of your company at a meeting featuring Texas Comptroller Glenn Hager on Tuesday, March 25th at noon at the Meals on Wheels building. It is worth noting that, come July, he will take on the esteemed role of Chancellor for the entire A&M System. Could you please help spread the word among Aggies? While attendance is complimentary, box lunches are available for $15, and kindly reserve by tomorrow.

From the Johnson County Texas Exes (enter horse laugh) ๐Ÿ™ sssssssss!

Golden Pride Band Assistant Director Brock Feller, who is also president of the Johnson County Texas Exes, is extending an invitation to their upcoming scholarship fundraiser this Thursday evening, June 15, 6-9PM. See his message below--it sounds pretty fun, is for a good cause, and opens up the opportunity for some bragging rights!

Here is the link to register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/johnson-county-chapter-trivia-night-tickets-615354500877

This year's scholarship fundraising event is being held at Torque Grill and Cantina on Hwy 174 in south Burleson next Thursday, June 15. Tickets are $30 and include street tacos with all the fixin's.

The trivia game is 6 rounds of 8 questions with door prizes being awarded between rounds.

I think folks associated with the other current Big XII schools are looking to get in their last shot at all things Burnt Orange as UT moves to the SEC next year. We would love to see teams decked out in TCU purple, Baylor green/gold, TTU red/black, OSU black/orange, OU crimson/cream, and even A&M maroon/white all compete for the title of being tabbed the brainiest in Johnson County.

Over the past 20+ years since its chartering, the Johnson County Chapter has awarded over $25,000 in financial assistance to incoming freshmen during their first year in Austin. This year's top award went to Cleburne HS Valedictorian, Parker Pritchard, in the amount of $1,000.

We are actively seeking team's to register to play and accepting sponsors and donors for this year's fundraiser.
