The Spring 2026 ECE Senior Design Showcase is a wrap! 🎉

Our ECE seniors presented their capstone projects to faculty, industry partners, alumni, and peers. Each project represents months of problem-solving, collaboration, and hands-on engineering, bringing ideas from initial concept all the way to fully realized designs.

We’re incredibly proud of the innovation, dedication, and technical excellence demonstrated across all teams this semester. Your hard work truly reflects the strength of our ECE program and the bright future ahead for our students.

Congratulations to all of our teams on an outstanding showcase, and a special shout out to Senior Design II Team 8 with their People's Choice Award winning Automated Drosophila Sorting System.

Check back soon for our Technical Design Award winners, and project demonstration videos!

Clemson University researchers are working with partners, including TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company, to test and validate a 1-megawatt system that converts waste heat into electricity.

The technology could improve efficiency, lower costs and reduce strain on the grid, especially at data centers and other energy-intensive sites. The project is led by Ramtin Hadidi and is funded by a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) grant to Clemson, TECO-Westinghouse and National Laboratory of the Rockies. Dean Sarandria of TECO-Westinghouse says the system has been nearly a decade in the making.

We’re proud to celebrate Jennifer Gooch and her well‑deserved recognition as a CECAS Staff Superstar! Her dedication to supporting our graduate students and keeping the ECE department running smoothly shines through in everything she does. Thank you for all your hard work, Jennifer. We’re so grateful to have you on the ECE team!

Congratulations to Jennifer Gooch, Graduate Student Services Coordinator in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson, our latest CECAS Staff Superstar Award honoree. Her steady leadership helps graduate students stay supported, funded and on track while strengthening how the department runs day to day.

As nominator and Chair of the department, Hai Xiao shared, “Jennifer is an indispensable member of our team and a pillar of support for our students, faculty and staff.”

Kelsey Loftus, a staff member in the Clemson University Graduate School, said, "She is always helpful, kind, honest and someone I can really count on."

Well done, Jennifer!

When Gabriel Cutter (center) was an undergraduate at Clemson University, he distinguished himself as an outstanding scholar, researcher and campus leader-- and he even found time to play trumpet in the Tiger Band. Now he's a graduate research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is guiding the next generation of researchers with the lessons he first learned at Clemson.
