Amandine says the program helped her grow both personally and professionally.

“The NSP has helped me grow personally by forming friendships that I know have impacted me for the better and will last a lifetime and professionally through mentors and mentorship programs that have always pushed me to explore unique opportunities.”

Our 25th Anniversary National Scholars Campaign continues with this week’s Captain Spotlight: Riley Stotzky ’24.

Riley says the program has made a lasting impact on her life — academically, professionally and personally.

“The NSP has given me the most supportive community I could have asked for. The friendships and mentorships you'll make in the NSP will challenge you, they'll encourage you, and they'll also always celebrate you.”

Her favorite memories come from the Scholarship Suite, where the NSP community came together for everything from study sessions to themed events.

“It’s what made Clemson feel like a home away from home.”

This week, our 25th Anniversary National Scholars Captain Spotlight is on Shannon Kay ‘16.

Shannon says NSP gave her more than academic and financial support. It shaped her leadership, her philosophy of success, and her closest friendships. One of her favorite memories? The night her cohort camped out in the NSP office with sleeping bags and hammocks, just to be the first ones there in the morning.

As NSP turns 25, Shannon is asking alumni and friends to celebrate by:

🏆 RSVPing for the November 7 anniversary celebration (deadline: October 15)
🏆 Sharing a story, memory or photo for the Time Capsule
🏆 Making a gift to help future scholars thrive

Let’s celebrate the first 25 years and invest in the next.

Our 25th Anniversary National Scholars Campaign continues with a special challenge from former NSP director Jamie Williams and his wife Kate.

They’ve donated $5,000 to the program — and they’re inviting cohorts and individuals to match their gift.

In the spirit of NSP, it’s a competition:

Jamie era vs. Sarah era — who will come out on top?
You can participate by:
🏆 Registering for the reunion
🏆 Making a gift toward our campaign goal
🏆 Submitting a message, memory or photo for the NSP Time Capsule

Together, we’ll honor 25 years of scholar-leaders and invest in the next 25.

Our 25th Anniversary National Scholars Campaign continues with this week’s captain spotlight: Christen Smith ’07.

Christen, who also serves on the Clemson University Honors College Advisory Board, shared how the program shaped her life:

💬 “The National Scholars Program gave me more than financial support. It gave me mentors, a supportive cohort and experiences I never imagined — all of which shaped who I became and how I see the world.”

She’s now leading the way to ensure future scholars have those same opportunities. You can support these efforts in several ways — by sharing an item for our NSP Time Capsule, volunteering for an NSP event, RSVPing for the anniversary celebration on November 7, or making a gift.

Join Christen in celebrating the past 25 years — and looking ahead to the next 25!

The National Scholars Program is turning 25! 🎉 For a quarter century, our scholars have represented the best of Clemson — bold, curious and determined to lead.

Now, alumni are teaming up in the Natty Cup to raise funds for the next generation. Together, we’re working toward:

🏆 100% participation from alumni, families and supporters
🏆 $5.5 million to help each cohort anchor their Clemson journey around a pressing global issue of their choice

Every donor has a chance to share a personal message, memory or photo in a tribute booklet that will be archived and sealed in a commemorative time capsule during our anniversary celebration on Nov. 7, 2025.

Help us celebrate 25 years and shape the next 25.

They’re back 💜🧡

This week we welcomed our 25th cohort to campus. After a three day retreat planned by current scholars in our program, we capped off their first week at Clemson with a welcome back dinner at the OLLI Center with our partner program, the Breakthrough Scholars.

We are so excited to have everyone back on campus, and we can’t wait to see what the 2024-2025 school year has in store for our scholars!

After two weeks exploring Germany (Berlin, Stuttgart, and Regensburg) with Dr. Pyle, Herr Schmidt, Kris, and Provost Jones, the 2023 cohort has settled in Regensburg for the summer. They will spend the next 6 weeks completing internships with faculty at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg, one of Clemson’s partner universities abroad.

While we already miss Summer, Shayar, Briggs, Tulsi, Logan, Carley, Claudia, Gretchen, and Andrew, we are so proud of them and cannot wait to hear all about their summer research and travel experiences!

We’re not totally sure, but we think this is the most remote place the NSP has ever raised the tiger rag!

The 2021 and 2022 cohorts are in Greenland! The group, along with Assoc. Dir. Kris and Prof. Todd Anderson, landed on Friday for a trip that is capping off their spring class titled “Art and Climate Change in the Arctic.” The first stop was the Greenland Ice Sheet, which covers 80% of the country and is the largest sheet in the world after Antarctica.

We are so thrilled to be able to offer experiential learning opportunities like these for our scholars.

Of the three major awards Clemson gives to undergraduate students, our seniors took home two! We are incredibly proud of Helena Harte for being recognized as this year's Norris Medal recipient, given each year to a graduating senior who is judged by the University Scholarships and Awards Committee to be the best all-around student. We are also so proud of Christian Blackburn for his selection as one of the two Algernon Sydney Sullivan Student Awards, given to community members who demonstrate excellence of character and service to humanity.
