Dear Delta Nu Community,
Today is Giving Tuesday and we would like to share a story with you. A little over a year ago, 9-year-old B+ Hero Joshua picked his head up from his Nintendo Switch where he was playing Fortnite in his hospital bed, and completely unprompted asked "If doctors are so smart, why do kids still die?" He then went back to playing his game. Two weeks later, after fighting cancer for more than half his life, he died. Sadly, Joshua is not alone.
Every day in our country, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer and each week 49 children lose their chance to grow up because childhood cancer takes that from them. That’s why Beta Theta Pi at Clemson University is helping to raise money to fight childhood cancer and give hope and financial support to kids like Joshua in partnership with The Andrew McDonough B+ (Be Positive) Foundation.
On this international day of giving, we are joining The B+ Foundation in their campaign to raise $100,000 in 24 hours. Every single dollar donated today will make a difference...can you help?
Your donation in action:
Your donation will help lessen the financial burden on families of children with cancer like Joshua’s so they can focus on what’s important – their child’s health. The B+ Foundation is the largest provider of financial assistance to families of kids with cancer nationwide and has helped thousands being treated at over 200 U.S. hospitals.
Your donation will help fund critical, cutting-edge childhood cancer research at world-class institutions nationwide that is saving lives and definitively changing the landscape of childhood cancer treatment options.
To make a donation, please visit https://www.beposfdn.org/bpos_teampage.aspx?eventtag=ClemsonBetaDrive&teamid=3482 and click the donate button. Your donation honors the memory of Andrew McDonough, who passed away from complications of leukemia in 2007 at age 14. Andrew's blood type and the family's motto was, and continues to be, "B+"… "Be Positive."
