Exciting Announcement! 🌟 We are bringing back the Faculty Senate Senator Spotlight each month, and we’re excited to kick it off with Senator Wang! With Faculty Senate transitions happening tomorrow, it’s the perfect time to highlight his continued dedication and impact within the Senate as he continues his service.
Meet Senator Wang from the College of Business. Senator Wang plays an active role in shared governance by attending monthly Senate meetings and engaging closely with colleagues to better understand and represent their ideas, perspectives, and concerns. He is committed to strengthening the connection between faculty and leadership through collaboration and open dialogue.
Senator Wang’s research focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence, with a special emphasis on how these technologies shape the behaviors, values, and decision making of younger generations like Gen Z and Gen Alpha. His work explores online shopping trends, personality insights, and predictive modeling to better understand a rapidly evolving digital world.
Inspired by his decade long journey at Clemson, Senator Wang was motivated to get involved in shared governance to give back to a community he deeply values. He views the Faculty Senate as a platform to promote transparency, collaboration, and accountability during a time of rapid change in higher education.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Senator Wang’s service has been gaining insight into how decisions are made across the university while collaborating with faculty from diverse disciplines. This has broadened his perspective and strengthened his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the institution.
Outside of his professional work, Senator Wang enjoys reading and hiking. He aims to read a book each month to stay open minded and continuously learn, while hiking allows him to recharge, think creatively, and enhance his problem solving skills.
The Faculty Senate is grateful for your service, Senator Wang! 👏
