Calling all High Schoolers! Summer Opportunity!!

The Department of Physics at The Citadel is hosting an Applied Physics & Aerospace Science Experience, a hands-on, learn-by-doing event for high school students. Participants spend the day designing, building, and testing projects in college teaching and research labs while exploring how real systems behave—and why—with guidance from faculty and students.
At our recent spring event, students built ultrasonic levitators and string shooters, flew our flight simulator, and investigated cloud formation using a cloud-in-a-bottle demonstration. Students also took home the levitators and string shooters they built during the event.
The event will take place on Monday, June 29, in Charleston. No prior physics, engineering, or programming experience is required. The registration fee is $35 and includes all project supplies, lunch, and snacks.

WHAT is light? HOW can we see colors?
CAN we change/bend/break/reflect light waves?

Wren Elementary 4th Graders came to visit us today and left with their very own spectroscopes (a tool they can break or diffract light into a rainbow!) AND their very own kaleidoscopes (reflects light in mirrors to create cool patterns)! Check out some of their individual designs! We spy some Clemson themed colors!!

Thanks for coming to see us Wren Elementary
