We would like to officially announce that we were able to raise $13,633 for our BLM Fundraiser! As promised we will be matching $10,000 and donating the total $23,633.00 (split evenly) to the Cleveland Branch of the NAACP, The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the Chicago branch of the Black Lives Matter organization. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared out fundraiser, and spread the word and supported the movement. Also a huge thank you to all the organizations that posted our fundraiser and notified their members, because of you we were able to gain a far greater reach than originally possible. We are really happy that we were able to fundraise so much, and are able to give a substantial donation to these 3 organization to help them in the fight for equal rights. We would especially like to thank and highlight Phi Mu for the fundraiser they set up to help us, and we would like to thank the CWRU chapters of Alpha Kappa Psi and Sigma Nu for their donations as organizations as well. Delt will be planning a fundraiser for next semester to support the BLM movement, so that we can continue to help and spread awareness. We do not want this to be just a moment of awareness and support but rather a continuous effort from us as an organization to continue building awareness for equal rights issues. We encourage everyone to keep educating themselves on the causes and issues of systemic racism, police brutality, and the different flawed systems within our country that inevitably oppress certain groups compared to others. Only by taking the time to learn more, having constant dialogue with others, and then each of us making our own small positive impacts will true change come about.
