At the latest Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Carlson Leadership Academy in Columbus, Ohio, our Ohio Nu alumnus Dave Huiett (Class of 1966) was recognized as a SigEp Icon for his dedication not just to our chapter, but for his representation of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love throughout Sigma Phi Epsilon across America.

Dave served as Charter President when Ohio Nu transitioned from LTD to SigEp more than 60 years ago — during the same time Fenn College became Cleveland State University. That pivotal season shaped his life and fueled a commitment to serve that has never stopped.

One of Dave’s greatest impacts has been scholarship development. Through fundraising efforts that began more than 30 years ago, the Sigma Phi Epsilon — Lambda Tau Delta Endowed Scholarship now holds a market value of over $100,000.
This fund supports Balanced Man Scholarships, provides financial assistance to undergraduate brothers, and helps send members to national leadership opportunities like the Ruck Leadership Institute and Conclave — creating life-changing experiences for generations of Ohio Nu SigEps.

Dave also helped establish a second endowed scholarship honoring William A. Patterson, longtime advisor to Lambda Tau Delta and SigEp Ohio Nu. Dr. Patterson — the first (and only) provost of Fenn College and the first provost of Cleveland State — played a key role in the university’s 1964 transition and served as a mentor and friend to Dave and countless brothers.

“SigEp has left me with the conviction that, wherever I go, I will always have friends and Brothers nearby,” Dave says. “Many of these will become life-long friends and mentors, as well as Brothers.”

Dave embodies the VPC track, always communicating the mission and value of: “this fraternity will be different.” His leadership, generosity, and lifelong dedication have built a legacy that will impact SigEps for decades to come.

🎉 Please join us in congratulating Dave Huiett for this incredible recognition of his service and dedication!

“SigEp at Ohio Nu always strove for excellence in sports, academics, parties, and brotherhood. Being in the fraternity was one of the most important experiences in my life. 🎉 Support Our Chapter at IFC Alumni Networking Night – February 26 🎉

Join us on February 26, 2025 from 6:00–8:00 PM at Viking Public House for our IFC Alumni Networking Night as part of IFC Week at CSU!

This is a great opportunity to:
• Reconnect with fellow alumni
• Meet current chapter members
• Celebrate our fraternity during CSU’s Giving Day

Giving Day is especially important this year, as each fraternity will be raising funds for scholarships, programming, and chapter initiatives. Chapters will be competing for the most support — and we’d love your help leading the way.

Last year, during CSU Giving day, Sigma Phi Epsilon proudly contributed $3,341 with the support of 71 donors. This generosity directly benefited the Sigma Phi Epsilon - Lambda Tau Delta Endowed Scholarship through the CSU Foundation, helping to support the future of our SigEp/Ohio Nu chapter.

Because of your support the chapter had the opportunity to send 20 brothers to the Life After College SigEp National program, 4 brothers to the 59th Grand Chapter Conclave, and 1 brother to the Ruck Leadership Institute. This is only possible by the support of alumni and we are very thankful!

Whether you graduated recently or years ago, we hope you’ll join us for an evening of connection, celebration, and impact.
We can’t wait to see you there!

Thank you to all of our alumni who joined and supported our Chapter Zoom meeting this past weekend. It was great to hear from so many of you about your time in the chapter and what you’re most excited about moving forward.

Going forward, the chapter will be hosting openquarterly Zoom meetings to keep our alumni, AVC, and mentors connected with what’s happening in the chapter—whether that’s major updates, ways you can support us, or events we’d love to have you attend. These meetings will be scheduled further in advance, and the Zoom link will be available at least one month before each meeting. We hope even more alumni will be able to join us next time.

In the meantime, here’s a condensed recap of what we discussed:

Chapter President Peyton Miller shared our long-term goals and plans as we work toward winning a Buc Cup at the 2027 Conclave, along with several important upcoming chapter events. We also heard from members of our Executive Board, who outlined their plans and goals for Spring 2026.

A year defined by Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.

In 2025, our chapter faced real challenges—brothers transferring schools, navigating Cleveland State budget cuts and staffing shortages, and adapting to changes in our organizational structure. Through it all, we came together, leaned on one another, and continued moving Ohio Nu forward.

Because of the commitment of our brothers, alumni, and supporters, we accomplished the following together:

• 37 brothers attended SigEp’s 2025 leadership programs
• As a chapter, we applied for the Buchanan Cup and gained valuable feedback to strengthen our path toward success in 2027
• Raised $11,739 for student scholarships during 2 Days of Giving
• United 209 donors in support of Cleveland State and SigEp’s Days of Giving
• Awarded $4,000 in Balanced Man scholarships to support our brothers
• Welcomed 15 new Balanced Men into our brotherhood
• Preserved our legacy by installing two historic display cases in CSU’s Michael Schwartz Library
• Reconnected generations by launching an Ohio Nu alumni-only page
• Strengthened our future by restructuring chapter financial practices for long-term stability
• Earned Cleveland State Chapter Awards for Excellence in Member Development & Education, Academic Excellence, and Chapter of the Year

Congratulations to every brother of Ohio Nu for the memories we made, the challenges we overcame, and for living out Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love every day. From all of us at Cleveland State, here’s to an even stronger 2026.
