Experiential learning facilitates an exchange of ideas, learning, and hands-on experience to mutually benefit our students, our campus, and our community. Cleveland State Community College is committed to providing its students with opportunities for experiential learning through community service activities during their collegiate experience. Service opportunities are structured to help students

acquire a sense of civic and social responsibility, learn about their community, apply classroom learning, expand their skills, and reflect on their experiences. At the same time, the college hopes that the service of student volunteers will assist with many needs in our community.

It’s not too late to sign up to volunteer for the Dr. Seuss children's literacy event that will take place on Cleveland State's campus Saturday, March 7 from 7:30-3:30. Cleveland State Students...Sign-up today to volunteer for a Keep McMinn Beautiful Litter Pick-Up project on February 7, 2020 from 9:00A until 12:00P. Six volunteers are needed. Volunteers should wear warm clothing that you do not mind getting dirty, as well as comfortable shoes. Meet in the parking lot of the Cleveland State Athens Campus, 2580 Ingleside Avenue. Volunteers will be picking-up litter on a couple of streets inside the Athens City Limits.
The Keep McMinn Beautiful Supervisor will be Stephanie Myers. Please call or email Stephanie to sign-up 423.506.7316 [email protected]. Volunteering for this activity is a good opportunity for TN Promise students to complete 3 of the 8 civic community service hours required by their scholarship prior to the next semester. Cleveland State Community College students sign-up today to volunteer at "Night to Shine Prom for People with Special Needs" - sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The event will be Friday, February 7, 2020, 6:00P-9:00P at Broad Street United Methodist Church, 155 Central Avenue NW, Cleveland. There is also a required training session that will take place on Tuesday January 28th, 4:30P-5:30P in CSCC classroom L118, first floor of the Library Building. A background check is required to participate in this event. Volunteers will complete a background check form at the January 28th training session. Volunteers will assist in the following areas: Guest Buddy, Red Carpet, Dance Floor, Face Painting, Food Service, Guest Check-In, Volunteer Check-in, Karaoke, Parking, Hair/Makeup/Shoe Shine (prior to prom start). Volunteer the week of June 17th-21st at the summer camp at the Austin Hatcher Foundation. They provide activities and food for them. Volunteer throughout the week while we play games, do crafts, eat, and have lots of fun! Activities are already planned. However, they need volunteers to help assist with activities and keep the kids engaged.

Volunteers Needed for Museum Center @ 5ive Points: Saturday Docent

Museum Center front desk docent is the face of the Museum. These individuals will greet guests and answer questions, direct calls, know a brief history of the Museum and its history, and start people on tours. This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys working with the public and has a helping attitude. Additionally, if you enjoy history and museums, this is an excellent opportunity to become familiarized with docent work and museum operations. New docents will undergo a one-time docent training to become familiar with the duties of the position and the Museum history.
