Wigmore, Farnsworth, Macey & More — Online Treatises Through VitalLaw

As a CSU|LAW student, you have access to online treatises beyond those you’ll find in Lexis and Westlaw. VitalLaw, an online platform, offers several key treatises online that were previously only available in print. Some of the best-known titles include Wigmore on Evidence, Farnsworth on Contracts, and Macey on Corporation Laws.

It’s easy to access these titles – just search for them in Discovery the library catalog, and you will find a link connecting you to the resource on VitalLaw. If you are on campus, you can access any of these titles directly. If you are off-campus, you will need to authenticate.

Following the shooting deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minnesota, law enforcement use of deadly force is again a major subject of media coverage and public debate. The Cleveland State University College of Law Criminal Justice Center will present Examining Law Enforcement Use of Deadly Force 12noon-1pm, Monday, February 9, 2026. The panelists will be Jonathan Witmer-Rich, Associate Dean, Leon M. & Gloria Plevin Professor of Law, Criminal Justice Center Co-Director; Justin Washburne, Director of Bar Preparation, former Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecutor and District of Nevada Assistant United States Attorney; and Rufus Sims, Civil Rights and Criminal Defense Attorney and CSU|LAW 1986 alumnus. The panelists will discuss when law enforcement are authorized to use deadly force, both under the Fourth Amendment and under state law, and what remedies are available under state and federal law for unlawful uses of deadly force. The program will be made publicly available as a webinar.
