California Health Sciences University - CHSU

California Health Sciences University - CHSU We are committed to improving health care by educating the Central Valley’s future physicians and other healthcare professionals. Clovis Avenue.

California Health Sciences University was founded in 2012 and is the first university of its kind in the Central Valley. Envisioned by the Assemi family, CHSU offers a local option for health care professionals seeking doctoral programs and to help remedy the shortage of health care services offered in the Valley. Students can enjoy the unique combination of high quality of life, affordable cost o

f living and plentiful career opportunities the Valley provides. CHSU is currently accepting applications for its Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program. The California Health Sciences University campus is in beautiful Clovis, California. Administrative offices and the College of Pharmacy are at 120 N. The College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Simulation Center are at 2500 Alluvial Avenue. With gorgeous views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the three-story College of Osteopathic Medicine building opened in 2020 and incorporates innovative technology throughout. The facility features large classrooms, an Osteopathic Skills lab, a library, plentiful private and collaborative study spaces, a spacious student lounge with Teaching Kitchen, and a Simulation Center. The Simulation Center includes an inpatient area that resembles a hospital environment and an outpatient area that is like a clinic or doctor’s office. The innovative Simulation Center was meticulously planned to maximize interactive learning. CHSU’s 110-acre campus site provides plenty of space for decades of expansion. The campus could ultimately approach 2,000 students and nearly 300 faculty and staff. Further development of the campus will occur in multiple phases, as new programs and colleges are added for postgraduate health education. 2026 CHSU Grad Stories: Ranvir Singh Johal, DO

Meet Dr. Ranvir Singh Johal, graduate of the CHSU-COM Class of 2026 and proud Central Valley native!

Dr. Johal’s journey into medicine began long before medical school. Growing up in an agricultural family, he witnessed firsthand the healthcare barriers faced by many field workers throughout the Central Valley. Those experiences fueled his passion to pursue medicine and ultimately give back to the very community that shaped him.

Dr. Johal will begin his Internal Medicine Residency at UCSF Fresno, returning to the same institution where he once participated in the Doctors Academy program during high school. Designed to inspire students to pursue healthcare careers and address the Central Valley physician shortage, the program has now come full circle in helping shape another future physician dedicated to serving the Valley.

Congratulations, Dr. Johal! CHSU is proud to see you carrying forward our mission of improving healthcare access and making a lasting impact in local communities.
