Behind every successful graduate is a powerful support network.

Last week, the Maryland Applied Graduate Engineering community gathered for our Spring 2026 Reception. This event gave us the wonderful opportunity to connect with our students, and their families before the formal Commencement ceremony.

To our graduates: As you advance in your engineering careers, remember that the connections you made here at the University of Maryland will last a lifetime. Keep collaborating, keep innovating, and stay in touch!

Here is a look at some of the highlights and fun moments from the reception.

Due to the forecast for severe weather on May 20, the main Commencement ceremony will move to its planned alternative date on Thursday, May 21, 2026. This change does not affect individual school and college ceremonies.

We understand that this change may be disruptive, but know that we have made this decision to prioritize safety and to provide the best possible experience for graduates and guests.

More information and the ceremony live stream will be available at commencement.umd.edu. We look forward to celebrating our Terrapin graduates!
