About the Program:

The UMD Biophysics Program brings together students and faculty from biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics working on questions at the intersection of the physical and life sciences. The aim of the Biophysics Program is to train graduate students to use theoretical and computational methods in combination with cutting edge experimental techniques to solve

some of the outstanding problems in biology, biomedicine, and bioengineering. We welcome students, with any background in science or engineering, who have a desire to work at the interface of several disciplines, and tailor the curriculum to suit the needs of the individual.

Apply for the Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship

The BD Fellowship provides a 12-month stipend of $30,000 per year ($60,000 total for the 24 months). In addition to the stipend, a cost-of-education allowance up to $10,500 per year is awarded to students for tuition, health insurance and student fees.

ELIGBILITY
• Admitted to a University of Maryland, College Park Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) M.S., M.Eng. or Ph.D. program for fall 2014
• U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
• Ability to provide evidence of participation in LSAMP undergraduate programs at the candidate’s respective undergraduate institution
