As of Tuesday evening, power was restored throughout campus. We thank all members of our community for your patience!

A huge thanks as well to our technical facilities staff who responded swiftly to the outage and the many Student Affairs and Academic Affairs staff who orchestrated changes and contingency plans for our summer activities with the safety and security of our community in mind. Your dedication and tireless commitment keep our Terrapin family strong, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do.

Campus Power Restored

Power has been fully restored to campus. Operations will return to normal on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with the exception of a small number of courses on Wednesday which have been relocated; students and instructors are being notified directly.

As buildings come back online, some limited impacts to HVAC and other systems may remain; if you encounter any issues, please call FM’s Customer Response Center at 301-405-2222. Individuals with mobility impairment and/or a disability who experience accessibility issues should call UMPD at 301-405-3555 for assistance.

Power Outage Updates

Tuesday, June 23:
Crews continue to make progress and the list of affected buildings is being regularly updated as power is restored. Please continue to follow the latest guidance at umd.edu/aware and monitor your email for further updates.

Supervisors should continue to communicate closely with employees on any changes to operations.

A small number of courses on Wednesday are being relocated; students and instructors will be notified directly.

Monday, June 22:
Crews continue to work diligently to restore power across campus. The campus will remain open, although some adjustments to operations are necessary. Find an updated list of affected buildings, and guidance for employees, students and residents at umd.edu/aware. Stay safe, and thank you for your patience and flexibility.

Sunday, June 21:
On June 20, 2026, the university learned of a power outage across campus. Crews have been working diligently around the clock to address the outage.

Due to the complexity of the issue, we anticipate that a handful of buildings will remain without power for another one or more days. Campus will remain open, although some adjustments to operations may be necessary.
