For Harford County teen Avaleigh Vacovsky, riding a bike or playing sports independently has never been possible.

Born with a rare genetic condition, she communicates through American Sign Language and attends a school for kids with special needs.

Now, thanks to A. James Clark School of Engineering faculty and students, she has a custom-designed therapy swing she can operate all by herself.
