Greetings! The next BFSA and Nyumburu Cultural Center Town Hall will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 12 pm. This very important virtual town hall is entitled, "The Ongoing Struggle for Black Liberation and Self Determination Within a Structurally Racist Country". Our special guest speaker will be veteran activist, organizer and journalist, Eugene Puryear. His bio is listed below. There will also be an update from some of the BFSA sub-committees on campus social justice issues.
This town hall series is an excellent way to get much more involved with creating necessary change on campus, have your voice heard, and to learn much more about significant social justice issues!

You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
When: Tuesday, July 14, 2020 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

You Must Register in advance for this meeting:

BFSA Family, good afternoon. I hope this email reaches you as well as can be expected, considering the recent tragic and heinous murder that happened on campus. The cold blooded murder of Richard Collins has filled many of us with a range of warranted emotions and concerns, such as sadness, anger, grief, concern for the family of Richard Collins and campus safety (to name a few).

We are also concerned with the overall (and ongoing) cultural climate on this campus that continues to be one that is limited in regard to authentic and progressive sustainable approaches toward cultivating holistic diversity. Many historically marginalized groups continue to subsist within an environment that is littered with bigotry and vestiges of outright hate.

Next Tuesday (May 30) at 12PM in the Nyumburu Cultural Center's Multipurpose room the BFSA will be hosting a special town hall meeting where community members (like yourself) can come to express their views, perspectives and tangible ideas/solutions towards moving forward as a community and truly building a campus environment that is riddled with progressive approaches towards an embrace of substantive diversity, safety for all and creating tangible policies aimed at enhancing the aforementioned. Hate needs to be isolated and never condoned anywhere on this campus. Hate should never jeopardize someone's physical safety as it did when Ricard Collins was murdered.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with his family and please attend this meeting next Tuesday May 30th at 12PM, if your schedule permits.
