The Maryland APEX Accelerator was thrilled to welcome 40 small business clients and government contractors for a morning of learning, conversation, and meaningful connections yesterday in Columbia, MD.

Attendees enjoyed a dynamic presentation on using AI to strengthen government contracting strategies, followed by a lively client roundtable where experienced contractors shared insights and practical advice for navigating the state, local, and federal marketplace. The networking sessions were especially popular, with many participants making valuable new connections and potential teaming partners.

Events like this are a key part of our mission to bring Maryland’s government contracting community together, and based on the great feedback we received, we’re excited to host more Coffee & Connections events throughout 2026.

A special thank you to our breakfast sponsor, Shore United Bank, for providing breakfast and sharing helpful information on financing options to help businesses successfully manage and grow their government contracts.

We also appreciate the support of the Howard County Economic Development Authority and the Maryland Innovation Center for hosting us and providing a fantastic space for the event.

WATCH THE REPLAY! Understanding Set-Asides, NAICS, and PSC Codes.

New to federal contracting? Your first step is identifying the right codes.

Before you can pursue opportunities with the federal government, you need to understand NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) codes and PSC (Product and Service Codes). These key identifiers define what your business sells and how agencies find you. Choosing the wrong codes can keep your business hidden from buyers and limit your access to set-aside opportunities.

This session will break down the differences between NAICS and PSC codes, show you how to determine the right ones for your company, and explain how these codes tie directly to registrations, visibility in federal databases, and opportunity matching.
