Theta Tau at UMD

Theta Tau at UMD The Eta Delta Chapter of Theta Tau is a professional co-ed engineering fraternity at the University of Maryland. James Clark School of Engineering.

We are a family of engineers who share in the common goals of professionalism, philanthropy, and brotherhood. We seek to create a welcoming environment for all engineers to succeed academically, socially, and professionally. The members of our family come from various backgrounds and study nearly every field of engineering offered by the A. Our members seek to promote positive change within the en

gineering community and campus community as a whole through participation in the Student Government Association, the Engineering Student Council, and professional engineering organizations such as IEEE and ASME. Our brothers work and intern at prestigious companies such as Yahoo!, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. If you are interested in joining please don't hesitate to send us a message through our page.

ā€¼ļø OT SERVICE HIGHLIGHT ā€¼ļø

On Saturday, brothers visited St. Martin of Tours church in Gaithersburg to help plant and protect new trees 🌳. The area has seen rising deer populations who have been eating native tree leaves and shedding velvet on their bark.

Thank you to the congregation for allowing us to help out and to the Maryland Forestry service for continuing to help us find these opportunities! šŸ’ššŸ’š

On Sunday, brothers spent the day volunteering at Prince George's County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center. While supporting a great cause, there were a lot of smiles spending time with the animals. šŸ•ā¤ļø

What’s up guys! My name is Ben Nolte (), and I’m a junior studying Electrical engineering. Over the last couple of years I’ve participated in multiple on campus hackathons. I joined Theta Tau as part of the Alpha Eta pledge class during my Spring Sophomore year. In the semesters since then, I have served as the Brotherhood Chair, helping to create fun events for brothers to hang out and spend some time together.

Outside of Theta Tau, I work as an Electrical Engineering Intern at the Army Research Laboratory. I really enjoy applying the skills I learn my courses to projects during the semester.

I love anything active like weightlifting, running, hiking, and skiing. I also really enjoy going out with friends, trying new foods, and traveling. I actually recently traveled to Madrid to go visit some brothers that are studying abroad.

This past summer, I interned with HII as an Electrical engineering Intern, creating a battery monitoring system for the BB-2590/U military battery. This coming summer I’ll be working for L3-Harris as a Systems Engineer in their autonomous systems branch. I hope to learn more about how signals interact with different ground or air vehicles.

Theta Tau has really improved my college experience, helping me to improve professionally, meet tons of new friends within the Clark school, and gain a new appreciation for engineering as a whole. I’m extremely grateful for the people I have met through Theta Tau as many of them have become some of my closest friends. I’m extremely grateful to be part of such an amazing organization!

Hi everyone! My name is Kaila Manuel () and I’m a junior studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Army Leadership Studies. I joined Theta Tau in my sophomore spring semester as part of the Alpha Eta pledge class. During my time, I have been Inner Guard, entrusted with overseeing elections and ensuring the voting process is fair.

Outside of Theta Tau, I am part of Army ROTC, where I am training to become an officer in the U.S. Army while completing my degree. Through ROTC, I actively develop leadership skills, learn military tactics, and maintain physical fitness. I am also involved in the Filipino Cultural Association, attending general body meetings and playing on the competitive coed basketball team.

I enjoy staying active, whether it’s playing sports, running, or lifting. I also love creating and editing YouTube videos and journaling. In my free time, I like working out, designing new projects, and spending time with my friends and family!

Theta Tau is a major part in my college experience. It has offered me a professional network, awesome memories, and motivating friends that push me to grow. I am so proud to be apart of this amazing organization and would not be who I am today without it.
