OSC is seeking an HPC Operations Manager, a new position inside the HPC Systems Team. The operations manager will manage a team of systems administrators. The person who fills this role will be responsible for both supervising operations staff as well as providing technical and organizational expertise for all aspects of the HPC operations.

As our Chief Architect, you will work as part of the Institute for CycberScience (ICS) Leadership team to: define and maintain the architecture roadmap for Penn State’s flagship High Performance Computing (HPC) environment; focus on advancing ICS’ HPC and cloud environments on a 3 year roadmap; evaluate, advise, and coordinate with vendors and research faculty on emerging technologies (i.e. AI/ML, Big Data, Quantum, Networks, Storage, etc.) and references architectures; provide expertise on research and infrastructure grants; and, engage directly with research faculty to identify and document research use cases. The Chief Architect will be involved with all aspects of the HPC environment including compute, networking, storage, and supported software stacks.
