Check out METM students Kyra and Brian Cracchiola featured in this special edition of the Aggie Spirit magazine! They have launched Rancho Colibri in Caldwell, TX with an inaugural 100 agave plants that they hope to harvest and distill in three to four years. They do this while both in active service to the U.S. Army and students in Texas A&M’s Master’s of Engineering Technical Management program.

“This spring we will add another 200 as part of my METM capstone project,” Brian said. “Next year we plan to jump to roughly 2,000 if survival rates justify it.”

"Two years ago, when I thought about starting the METM program at Texas A&M, I was honestly scared. I was in my early 50s, and I hadn’t stepped into a classroom in almost three decades. I wondered if I could still do it, if I still belonged in school after so long away.

My whole family encouraged me, and I’m deeply grateful to them. But there is one person whose support changed everything for me: my husband, Fabian Garzon. For two years, he patiently waited through late nights, long weekends, and countless hours when school came first and our time together had to wait. He never pressured me, never complained. Instead, he listened, he encouraged, and he reminded me why I started whenever I felt overwhelmed or ready to give up.

He believed in me, even in the moments when I didn’t believe in myself. I know in my heart that I would not be here, finishing this journey, without him by my side. This degree is our achievement."

"During my journey toward earning my METM degree, I was fortunate to receive encouragement from many friends and family members, but the most meaningful support came from my husband, my son, my mom, my sister, and my closest friends. Over the past 21 months, they did not simply stand beside me—they walked this journey with me every step of the way.

My husband was my anchor throughout the program. He stepped in wherever needed, taking on additional responsibilities at home and offering constant reassurance during the most demanding moments. Whenever the workload felt overwhelming, he reminded me why I started this journey and encouraged me to keep pushing forward.

My son, in his own way, became one of my greatest sources of motivation. Balancing school, work, and family required sacrifices, and his patience, understanding, and love never went unnoticed. He inspired me to stay committed, even during the most challenging times.

My mom also played an important role in helping me stay on track throughout this journey. Whether it was helping me manage everyday responsibilities or keeping me organized when my to-do list felt endless, her support allowed me to stay focused during some of the busiest periods of the program.

My sister and best friends were also an incredible source of encouragement. They continuously checked in on me, celebrated the small victories along the way, and reminded me to keep believing in myself during moments of stress and exhaustion. Their support, understanding, and encouragement helped carry me through this journey more than they know.

Their unwavering support gave me the strength, focus, and determination to succeed. Earning my METM degree is not solely a personal achievement—it is a reflection of the resilience, sacrifice, and shared commitment of the people who stood beside me throughout this journey.

Without them, this accomplishment would not have been possible."

"Completion of this program was made possible by an incredible support system. My husband was a constant source of encouragement—always willing to listen and stepping in to take on extra responsibilities during late nights and weekend study sessions. My cohort members were equally invaluable, consistently collaborating, sharing insights, and helping answer questions along the way. My parents played a critical role by making residency weeks possible and providing extra support with my children and household responsibilities when needed. Additionally, my leadership team at LANL continually encouraged me to pursue this degree and supported my growth, reinforcing the importance of this achievement. Together, their unwavering support made balancing the demands of the program with my personal and professional responsibilities not only manageable, but truly meaningful."

"The people who stood by me during this journey were my parents, my girlfriend Renee, and my sons. My parents have always been my biggest cheerleaders, and they knew how much it meant for me to come back and finish what I started after leaving Texas A&M in the 90s.

Renee supported me every step of the way, especially during long weekends of schoolwork and the times I had to spend away from family events. Her understanding and love made a huge difference.

Most importantly, my sons have been a constant source of motivation. I hope that by going back and earning my master’s degree, I’ve shown them that perseverance matters and that it’s never too late to finish something you started."
