Get to know the students leading organizations!

First up is Davis Nix ’27, president of Animal Science Ambassadors. Davis joined as a freshman looking to broaden his opportunities within Animal Science. Now in his second year as president, he says the most fulfilling part has been serving fellow students and the department.

Through Ambassadors, students represent the department through outreach, develop professional skills and build connections with classmates and industry.

Southwest Dairy Day brought dairy producers, industry professionals and students together in Dalhart last week!

Hosted by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Full Circle Jersey Dairy, the event featured guided dairy tours, industry exhibits and opportunities to learn about dairy technology, management and sustainability practices.

Texas A&M Dairy Science Club members also assisted with the event, helping with setup and tours while connecting with professionals across the dairy industry.

This past week, the Department of Animal Science welcomed Cargill and Tractor Supply Co. employees for hands-on equine training at Texas A&M.

The Cargill team led training on body condition scoring and communicating with horse owners. Dr. Erica Macon and members of the Macon Lab provided horses from their research herd, while undergraduate and graduate students participated in role-playing exercises that gave Tractor Supply employees the opportunity to practice conversations with horse owners.

We’re grateful to Cargill for the opportunity to collaborate and connect our students, faculty and industry through experiences like this.

A well-deserved honor for our national champions! 👏 Congratulations to the Texas Aggie Rodeo women’s team and Coach Roger Hanagriff!

Our Texas Aggie Rodeo women's team won a national championship this summer, and yesterday, The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents adopted a resolution honoring them!

We are so proud of Devin Young '29, Ceily Simpton '27, McKinlee Paschal '27, Lucy Richards '28 and Emma Matchett '29, along with their coach, Texas A&M Animal Science's Dr. Roger Hanagriff. Thank you to the Board for recognizing these outstanding Aggies.

Another Howdy Event in the books!

Our 2026 Howdy Event brought students together to connect with faculty, staff and student organizations while kicking off another year in Animal Science.
