It's time to meet the newest member of our team, Ernest “Ernie” Quimby! Ernest is an Emergency Management Specialist at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Houston, where he serves as the Campus Emergency Management Coordinator. His coverage includes the School of Engineering Medicine, the College of Medicine, and the Institute of Biosciences and Technology, as well as the Mays Business School at City Centre.
Before joining Texas A&M, Ernie honorably retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service as an Independent Duty Corpsman, with leadership and operational experience across joint and high consequence environments. He calls himself “The Navy Tourist” having been posted on all three United States coasts, the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest, Europe and Asia and having been to 24 countries. He received several personal and unit awards during his service. He only regrets not being able to do another 20 years with the Navy.
Ernest studied at the Naval School of Health Sciences in Portsmouth, Virginia, Field Medical Service School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and the Surface Warfare Medical Institute in San Diego, California. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Health Sciences from The George Washington University, and a Master of Science in Homeland Security and Disaster Management from Liberty University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health.
Outside of work, Ernie enjoys golf, following Astros and Space Cowboys baseball and getting into outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and fishing. He relaxes with auto projects and home improvement or by spending time with his children, who keep him laughing and grounded.
Welcome to the team, Ernest!
