We are proud to share that Smart Swine, LLC., an innovative startup project developed by poultry science graduate students, has been named a Top 12 finalist in the AI Venture Velocity Challenge, organized by Texas A&M Mays Business School. 🥳
Smart Swine is taking on one of the swine industry’s most persistent challenges: reducing piglet mortality. The team is developing an AI-powered computer vision system paired with custom robotics to move beyond simply detecting risk and toward predictive prevention.
The project earned its place among the Top 12 after competing in a nationwide pool of 531 startups and advancing through a field of 27 semifinalists.
Advised by Ziteng Xu, Ph.D., and developed through collaboration with the Texas A&M University College of Engineering, Smart Swine brings together graduate student innovation and expertise in animal agriculture, artificial intelligence, and engineering to address a real-world production challenge.
The Smart Swine team will take the next step on Sept. 26 in College Station, where they will present in the final round of the AI Venture Velocity Challenge for a chance to earn the $100,000 top prize.
Congratulations to the Smart Swine team on this milestone, and we can't wait to cheer them on in the finals!
