The Wm Michael Barnes '64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University provides education and research that contribute to the economic and technological advancement of the state, the nation and the world. It has consistently been ranked in the top 10 departments in the United States over the past 10 years by the Gourman Report, the National Research Council and US News

and World Report. We provide education and research that contribute to the economic and technological advancement of the state, the nation and the world. Our outstanding faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for the quality of their research and teaching, and their leadership in the profession. We have strong programs in manufacturing and production systems, logistics and supply chain management, operations research, data science, applied probability and statistics, systems engineering, quality and reliability, and system simulation especially important in the current environment of international trade and global competition. Our last seminar of the ISEN Spring Seminar Series is tomorrow, April 24, from 1:50 to 2:40 p.m. in ETB 1034.

We’ll be joined by Dr. Barrett S. Caldwell from Purdue University. His research looks at how expert teams work together in high-stakes environments like aerospace, emergency response and spaceflight operations. It focuses on how communication, timing and expertise shape coordination and decision-making.

We would like to take a moment to remember Dr. Madhav Erraguntla, Professor of Practice in the Wm Michael Barnes ’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, who passed away last month.

Dr. Erraguntla will be remembered for the kindness, patience, and steady support he showed throughout his time with us. He had a way of making those around him feel heard and encouraged, and he left a lasting impression on students and colleagues who had the opportunity to work with him.

As shared by department head Dr. Satish Bukkapatnam, “He contributed meaningfully through his teaching, scholarship and engagement, and he touched the lives of many through his work and presence in our community. Dr. Erraguntla will be remembered not only for his contributions to the department, but also for the kindness and professionalism he brought to our community.”

He will be deeply missed, and his impact will not be forgotten.
