Texas A&M mourns the recent passing of Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas G. Darling โ54, a decorated military hero and beloved former Commandant of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. His 33-year Air Force career included more than 7,000 flight hours and numerous prestigious honors. As Commandant, he left an indelible mark on the university, and his legacy lives on through the Sanders Corps of Cadets Visitor Center he championed, the Darling Corps Recruiting Company named in his honor, and the countless cadets whose lives he shaped during and beyond his tenure.
He dedicated his post-military life to ensuring cadets had every opportunity to succeed, establishing academic support programs, formalizing recruiting efforts and initiating the Corps Hall of Honor program. General Darling was a true Aggie in every sense of the word, and his legacy will continue to shape the Corps for generations to come. Here.
