In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial scholarship fund through the Texas A&M Foundation to honor Avery’s legacy as a student in the Department of Animal Science and as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team. It is hard to put into words the loss of Avery Detten, a current member of our 2026 Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team.

Avery was an incredible teammate, friend, and a huge part of our meat judging family. Her infectious personality could light up every practice, workout, van ride, and cooler she walked into. She brought joy, energy, and a smile that made everyone around her better.

While we are heartbroken, we are incredibly thankful for the impact Avery had on this team and so many others. Her kindness, faith, and selflessness will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.

Please continue to keep the Detten family, her teammates, and everyone who loved Avery in your prayers during this difficult time.

What an incredible turnout at the 2026 Aggiefest Meat Judging Clinic!

Thank you to the 200+ students who came out to learn, and sharpen their skills. Our 2026 Meat Judging Team did an outstanding job leading, teaching, and investing in the next generation of meat judges.

We can’t wait to see many of these teams back in action at the Area FFA contest in just a couple of weeks. Good luck this spring season!
