Calling all UCCS Community Members!

The Community Curation as Applied Anthropology class at UCCS is developing an exhibit in collaboration with UCCS community members. Team members are conducting research to learn more about the range of community members' experiences on the UCCS campus.

Ultimately, this research may be included in an interactive exhibit that conveys the breadth of those experiences to the public and/or referenced in a reflective article about the process of community curation in creating exhibits.

If you are interested in participating, the first step in this study is completing a Google Forms Survey.

📷Dot Days Community Festival 2026📷

Thanks to everyone for a successful first iteration of Dot Days! We had a great mix of community members, staff, students, and faculty, plus lots of community partners who made this a wonderful experience. Over the course of the festival we had 1017 participants!

We will be starting next year's planning soon. If you have suggestions, if your organization would like to participate, or if you would like to help organize, please contact Dr. Kimbra Smith ([email protected]).

The theme of the Dot Days Community Festival is "Our Place in Nature." Visit the CSPM for the festival’s “Cultural Connections” day tomorrow, September 9, from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. From 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Kelly Bull Permaculture Design will share her workshop “Food Forests” in the museum’s Division I Courtroom.

This lesson focuses on edible and low-maintenance trees, shrubs, and perennials that will grow bigger and better year after year, producing food, shade, wildlife support, and beauty! By learning a few simple design principles based on forest ecology, you can get the most out of your yard and do the least amount of work.

The CSPM is thrilled to host the “Cultural Connections” day as part of at the Dot Days Festival 2026: Our Place in Nature with UCCS Heller Center for Arts & Humanities on Wednesday, September 9 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. From 4 - 7 p.m. visit the four artist-led activity stations. The featured artists are part of the museum’s "50% of the Story: Women Expressing Creativity" exhibit:
🎨 Kang Lee Sheppard: Asian Art on Rice Paper
🎨 Lupita Carrasco: “Sketch to Remember” - An exercise in documenting moments and memories of interest with assorted art supplies.
🎨 Ramona Lapsley: Styrofoam Print Project
🎨 Marisa White: "Words + Pictures" - Explore the intersection of language and imagery by transforming found words and old photographs into unexpected works of art.
