“Being at UCCS, I have found such a strong sense of community,” said graduating senior Cana Adiso. “I’ll definitely miss being surrounded by them!”

Originally planning to study business, Cana discovered her passion for health and wellness through the Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center’s Fitness Buddies program. Alongside earning her marketing degree, she added a minor in health and wellness promotion, became a certified personal trainer and embraced leadership opportunities across campus.

From serving as a resident assistant to studying abroad in Paris, Cana made the most of her time at UCCS. Now, as a Student Achievement Award winner and commencement speaker, she is preparing to combine her passions for fitness, marketing and community service in the next chapter of her journey.

took their research to the global stage!🌎

At the GAMeS International Mental Health and Sport Conference in London, our team shared the impact of Mountain Lion Strong, a program supporting the mental health and performance of nearly 400 UCCS student-athletes.

Jess Kirby and graduate students Kseniya Doronkina, Madalyn Unrein, and Michael Brinton presented research on mindfulness, peer support, and injury recovery.

“It is clear that people care about mental health and want to collaborate. It made me realize how important it is to continue research in this area and how much more work still needs to be done, especially when it comes to funding and support,” said Unrein.

Their work is helping build a stronger, more supportive culture in sports while giving athletes the tools to succeed.

Proud to see our Mountain Lions making an impact worldwide. Read more at the link below!

So proud of these students for wrapping up their community nutrition apprenticeship with an incredible presentation at GutWell Medical. They brought community nutrition to life in a clinical setting, from assessing populations to creating educational materials and leading a gut health label-reading workshop. They wrapped it all up with a fun, hands-on taste test featuring simple, gut-friendly ingredients!
