LENA ENGELSTEIN is a NYC-based dancer, choreographer, and director. Her work has been dubbed “The High Weird” by critics. Recent work includes: American Idle Concept and Dir. by Maia Chao, commissioned by Times Square Arts (choreographer), Friday Night Rat Catchers (world premiere March 2025 at New York Live Arts, w/Lisa Fagan), Deepe Darknesse (Jan 2024 in New York Live Arts’ Live Artery and June 2023 at The Collapsable Hole w/Lisa Fagan), all i want is what you want (Mar 2022 in Exponential Festival w/Jo Warren). She and Lisa Fagan are recipients of the 2025 Artists Grant in Dance from Foundation for Contemporary Art. Recent performance credits include: this is the beginning, this is the end by Joanna Kotze, Oceanic Feeling by Faye Driscoll, They All Lived There by Isa Spector, 1-800-3592-113592 (March, 2024 at MITU580 with performance collective CHILD, Then She Fell by Third Rail Company (2019-2020). Lena holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Colorado College.
