Mizzou Alphas Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans,

Seven men distinguished themselves on December 4, 1906 as the men who would be the pioneers of pioneers. On May 17, 1966, those pacesetters were joined by seven more men of distinction: Pearl Charles Brown, Pearl Michael Middleton, Pearl Thomas Polk, Pearl Alonzo Redman, Pearl Charles Rudd, Pearl Samuel Scott and Pearl Cecil Wells. These seven men chartered the Zeta Alpha Chapter at the University

of Missouri-Columbia, and committed themselves to the progress of the African-American experience at MU. Zeta Alpha Pearls were responsible for the establishment of the Legion of Black Collegians, MU’s Black Student Government, and the NAACP chapter at MU. Pearl Middleton is still committed to the University as its Deputy Chancellor and Professor of Law. Along with Middleton, the current members of the Zeta Alpha Chapter are pioneers and extremely active on the MU campus. Zeta Alpha brothers have held key positions on campus such as the LBC, MSA & NPHC of MU presidencies; have found and preside over EVOLUTION: The Black Men’s Think Tank as well as involving themselves in a multitude of organizations on the University of Missouri Flagship campus. Brothers are committed to distinguishing themselves as true leaders and pillars of the MU community. Through their work, it is imperically evident that the Zeta Alpha Brothers live up to the aims of the fraternity: Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for all Mankind.
