Rounding out our celebration of USC Advising Award winners is our 2025 Outstanding Advising Administrator, Dr. Nora Dragovic. Nora leads a team of over 40 academic advisors in the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences.

Nora's nominator shared, “She fiercely advocates for our college's UAAs, using her creativity, intelligence, and strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges with ease. Her understanding nature and unwavering work ethic inspire trust and confidence across the team. Above all, Nora is a joy to work with, making our workplace stronger and more supportive every day.”

The Outstanding Student Advocacy in Advising award recognizes a member of the USC advising community who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students and enhancing advising practices to foster student success. This year's award winner, Cierra Pinckney, embodies these elements in her daily work with students in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management - USC.

Cierra's nominator shared, "she has expanded her leadership to include coordination of First-Generation initiatives, where she has made a meaningful and measurable impact on the student experience. Her work ensures that first-generation students not only have access to resources, but also feel seen, supported, and empowered to thrive within the HRSM community.”

Our next 2025 Institutional Academic Advising Award winner is Kerry Armbruster, winner of the the Commitment to Advising Excellence (less than 3 years) award. Kerry has served as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Arnold School of Public Health since July 2023.

Kerry's advisee had this to say about him, "From the beginning, Kerry has always been more than just an academic advisor to me. He doesn’t treat advising like a checklist; he actually takes the time to get to know you, what you’re interested in, and what you’re trying to accomplish. Because of that, his advice always feels really personal and relevant…When I was trying to figure out what clubs to join, he didn’t just give me a list, he talked through my interests with me and helped me find opportunities that actually fit. That made it a lot easier to get involved and feel more connected on campus.”

This week we're celebrating our 2025 USC Institutional Academic Advising award winners starting with Amanda Barney DuPre, winner of the Commitment to Advising Excellence (more than 3 years) award. Amanda has served as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Arnold School of Public Health since June 2022.

Her student advisee had this to say about her, "It is because of Ms. Barney’s proactiveness that I can achieve my dreams while also completing my degree through USC Columbia on time. Although only a sophomore, I have always had the dream to be an NFL Cheerleader post-graduation...After getting news that this dream may be becoming a reality much sooner than originally expected, I immediately scheduled a meeting with Ms. Barney. Ms. Barney did not only help with my academic progression timeline, but she has also become one of my biggest supporters through all the excitement and chaos that this opportunity can bring."

Registration for summer and fall 2026 courses starts next week! Make sure you know your time ticket. 🎟️

If you encounter any technical issues during registration, stop by our help desk in the University Advising Center (Close-Hipp 3rd floor) between 9am-5pm, April 6-10 and April 13-17.

Please note that students will not be advised at the help desk. You must meet with your academic advisor to get your advising hold lifted. 🧑‍🏫
