Iota Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Alpha Kappa Alpha has over 900 chapters organized into 10 Regions. Iota Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated received her charter on October 7, 1972. We are part of the first region - the Notable North Atlantic Region. Since her inception, the Iota Lambda Omega Chapter has been successful in implemen

ting the sorority's international programs on the local level and serving our surrounding communities. Since our beginning the chapter continues to fulfill its commitment to serve and has formed strong relationships and partnerships with other local community organizations, which is essential to our success.

2022 will mark Iota Lambda Omega's 50th year of service to the surrounding communities. We will continue our commitment to local service as we embrace the international theme, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. The 2022-2026 administration has six initiatives. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration’s “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. The five remaining “Program Initiatives” will include, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, Uplift Our Local Community and other local initiatives which have already had a positive impact on the lives of many in our communities and abroad.

It’s the first of June, and we are ready to, “Feed the Movement!”

This week, we are Wearing Pink, Spending Green, and Buying Black by intentional spending with Black-owned restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks, and beverage brands.

Our collective goal is $8 million this month, and it starts with just $19.08. That’s one delicious meal, one specialty coffee, or one sweet treat. Let’s help “Build Our Economic Wealth,” one bite (or sip!) at a time.

Tag your favorite food or drink business below, and let’s celebrate together! 🩷💚🖤

The Uplift Our Local Community Committee, alongside Iota Mu Mu of Omega Psi Phi and the Columbia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, is collecting supplies for our 2nd Annual School Supply Drive benefiting Talbott Springs Elementary School. Last year we supported 50+ students — this year we’re aiming even higher!

🩷💚 Black Dollar Days are almost here! 🩷💚

This June, we invite every member to join us for the final Black Dollar Days of the Soaring Administration.

Through the power of intentional spending, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® members have invested more than $50 million in Black-owned businesses during this administration. This June, we’re building on that legacy with a goal of spending $8 million more.

Every Pink Friday, we encourage Sisters to “Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black” by spending at least $19.08 with a Black-owned business.

Show off your economic power and Sisterhood spirit on social media! Share your purchases using , , , and tag .

Grab your favorite pink outfit, your FMO Federal Credit Union™ debit card, and your Sister Squad. Together, let’s continue to Build Our Economic Wealth®.
