Clemson University is looking for volunteers to help collect price data at local farmers markets. This project helps support farmers, improve market transparency, and strengthen local food systems by documenting prices for fruits, vegetables, and other products sold at markets.

Volunteers will visit markets and record prices using a simple form. There is a small stipend to compensate volunteers for their time. The information collected helps farmers, researchers, and markets better understand trends, support local agriculture, and improve programs that benefit both producers and consumers.

No special experience is required—just an interest in local food and a willingness to collect data at the market. This is a great opportunity to support local farmers, contribute to important research, and engage with your community.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to learn more, please complete the contact form here: https://clemson.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cHqdayuV2ydXZga
Filling out the form does not obligate you or the market going forward. Follow up instructions about the project will be sent later to those who complete the interest form.

A DOLLAR SAVED IS A DOLLAR EARNED... How the age-old saying applies to farm finances — especially when it comes to retirement planning and tax-smart saving strategies.

As the adage goes, “a dollar saved is a dollar earned”. Perhaps even more so if the dollar is saved from paying taxes and can go towards funding retirement. Many farmers may imagine a scenario where they keep working until their dying breath, and while that might be possible, it is prudent to ha...

This summer, farmers markets around South Carolina have had volunteers submitting data on fruit and vegetable prices.

From Kevin Burkett, Clemson Agribusiness Associate Vine-ripe juicy tomatoes are always a summertime favorite and one that can even cause a bit of competition. This can range from seeing who can gro…
