🔍 How much do we really know about domestic and intimate partner violence? These issues are not just personal—they’re major public health concerns that affect us all. According to recent CDC data, over 40% of women and 25% of men will face sexual, physical, or stalking violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime, often before age 18.

Join us this Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the RSVP Center with Dr. Park to explore how to legally and theoretically identify different types of violence and uncover the research on its impact on families. Let’s come together to raise awareness and make a difference!

This year's Take Back the Night theme is "Rise Up: An Intersectional Call to Action."

Our goal is to bring together voices from various backgrounds to rise up against sexual violence and systemic oppression. We aim to highlight individuals' unique experiences and the role that intersectionality plays when violence occurs.

We hope to see folks at Virginia Amphitheater, where we will raise our voices, support each other, and Take Back the Night!

The RSVP Center prepares students for success by empowering them to make a powerful impact on their academic and professional communities. We are so proud of our student staff member, Mya Franklin, for her work as a DC Kinder Scholar this summer! Learn more about Mya’s mission to make a difference below and by clicking the link in our bio (link out to the story):

“I’ve dreamed of making a difference through advocacy since watching Black women such as Michelle Obama and Amanda Gorman speak in the heart of DC. That dream came true through my summer internship at Everytown for Gun Safety through the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy’s DC Scholars program. Working at the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center (RSVP) equipped me with the skills to advocate against discrimination and bias through fruitful conversations surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. My work would not be possible without the support and mentorship of the RSVP staff. I encourage everyone to make a difference through what they love.”
