Happy 1/C Friday! We are finishing off this semester with MIDN 1/C Lohr. He is a Global Studies and Political Science major from Gillbertsville, PA and will be heading to TBS after commissioning. His preferred MOS is HUMINT Intelligence.
During his time here he has been PTI, Academics Officer, and Battalion Sergeant Major!

And his advice for underclassmen it “Recognize that this is truly a special opportunity you have to be a Midshipman here at USC, Seek out all the opportunities you can and make the most out of your time here.”

Happy 1/C Friday! This week we’re recognizing MIDN 1/C Adams. He is from Bridgewater, NJ and is studying Political Science. Upon commissioning he will be heading off to the USS Mustin to be a Surface Warfare Officer!
During his time here he has been Charlie Company CO, Assistant Operations Officer, Geedunk Officer, and a squad leader.
The best thing he’s learned here is how to balance being a friend and a leader.
And his advice to underclassmen is “Life is not something to be taken seriously. It changes on a dime, and you just have to roll with all the stuff you can’t control.”

This week’s Senior Spotlight is OC Slowey! He is a Mechanical Engineering major from Ripley, Ohio. After commissioning he will become a Surface Warfare Officer (Nuclear). In the spring of 2024, he was our Battalion XO!
When asked what the best thing he’s learned here he said “Since joining the Gamecock Battalion, I’ve come to see just how bright the future of the Navy is with the leaders we are preparing. They are dedicated, intelligent, and deeply committed to leading with integrity and compassion. As a prior enlisted sailor, this makes me very happy.”
And his advice to underclassmen is “Take every opportunity to learn and grow, both as a leader and a shipmate. Stay disciplined, ask questions, and never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. The habits you build now will shape the officer you become.”

Happy Staff Sunday! This week we’re introducing our Bravo Company staff! Bravo Company is home to all of our prospective Naval Aviators! They spend their time preparing for the ASTB (Aviation Selection Test Battery) and flight school through practice tests and things such as flight stimulators. The staff of this company works hard to help all of the midshipmen prepare for their future!

Throughout his time here he has been BNCO, Alpha XO, Squad leader, Mess night AOIC.
“My favorite memory is either me trying to get water during NSO without knowing the proper greetings, or 2nd LT Mitchell and I manifesting being in the same platoon for the FEX and NSI.”
”My advice for underclassmen is make the most out of your time at USC. Experience as much as you can during your time here because experience adds perspective.  Try to become the most well-rounded person you can be. You will make mistakes but grow from them and take the lessons with you.”
