Consistent with our Founders' thoughts in 1898, our primary purpose is to create an environment for our members in which lasting friendships and our vows of sisterhood emanate all aspects of our Fraternity. We encourage an atmosphere which will foster high ideals of friendship among

college women, promote their educational and cultural interests, create in them a true sense of social responsibility and develop in them high qualities of characters.

TWO! DAYS! TIL! ZETA!

SERVICE & PHILANTHROPY 🎗💝

‘To prepare for service and learn the nobility in serving thereby earning the right to be served.’ ZTA’s final value is Service and Philanthropy, something every ZTA shares during her time in college. Our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, is something every Zeta is passionate about. Throughout the year we hold events such as our late night dinners, Chick-Fil-A with ZTA and Pink Pancake, Ribbon on Richmond, a candle lighting ceremony to honor those who have fought or been effected by breast cancer, Dodge for a Cause, and creating care packages for the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center right here in Columbia, and handing out breast cancer awareness ribbons all over campus. These events not only raise money but also honor the cause and spread awareness. The pink ribbon is one of the key ways we spread our philanthropy. The pink ribbon is a physical representation of the fight against breast cancer, and you’ll see these ribbons on nearly every student’s backpack on Mizzou’s campus. Our philanthropic efforts raise money for our beneficiaries: the American Cancer Society, National Football League, and Bright Pink. Each one of these organizations use our funds to raise awareness, work on new treatment methods, and help women detect their risk of breast cancer early on - which is a key factor in beating breast cancer. Our philanthropy is a key part of being a Zeta. Every woman of ZTA holds our efforts to fight breast cancer personally and fights the good fight alongside her sisters. Service & Philanthropy is a Noble cause that Zeta Tau Alpha fights for year round: whether it be our own philanthropy, or service throughout our campus and community, there is no ZTA without helping others.

SEEKING UNDERSTANDING THAT WE MIGHT GAIN TRUE WISDOM 🕊🤍

‘To seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom.’ Seeking Understanding: the value that makes Zeta Tau Alpha a safe haven for all who walk through her doors. To seek understanding is to listen to others stories, to emerge yourself in others beliefs, to believe others experiences, and to respect others always. In ZTA, everyone is safe to be there truest selves and share their truths because Zeta women seek to understand one another before making judgements, taking action, or coming to conclusions. In Zeta we avoid conflict by trying first to listen to each other & know each other; to put ourselves in our fellow man’s shoes and walk a mile before we do anything else, that is the Zeta way. Seeking Understanding can be seen in the way we speak to each other, in the way we support each other, and in the way we hold each other accountable. In our recruitment endeavors, Zeta looks at the whole person - not just the facts we’re given - and strives to understand every women who comes our way. We are an intentional sisterhood built around a judgement free lifestyle, where everyone is safe to be honest even on their worst days, on the days when they need sisters to help hold them up. To seek understanding is to be empathetic and a strong sister in the hardest of storms, a true kindness and one every Zeta Tau Alpha is blessed to share with her sisters and everyone in her life. In Zeta, we hope to inspire each other and everyone we meet to go through life with an open mind and an open heart that are willing to learn and grow. Seeking Understanding is perhaps the greatest blessing ZTA has to share.

Whether it is owning their actions or holding sisters accountable for theirs, Zetas do not waver in adversity. ZTA holds Responsibility dear to heart, knowing it is what keeps our sisterhood Noble and of high moral standing. Responsibility can be seen in how Zetas carry out their duties & roles in our chapter, in the PHA community, and on campus. Zeta Tau Alpha prides itself on being a group of women who take action when it is needed of them & hold themselves to a high standard. Responsibility keeps our chapter afloat; every woman has a role to play, and, because they hold this value to be true and important, every woman follows through her duties with integrity, heart, ethics. LOYALTY AND COMMITMENT ✨🤝

‘Striving ever to make our lives a symphony of high ideals, devotion to the Right, the Good, and the True, without a discordant note.’ If a woman of Zeta Tau Alpha is one thing, she is Loyal. ZTA’s value of Loyalty and Commitment is something every Zeta must embody. In our chapter, L & C looks like sisters being involved on committees, our executive council, the PHA community, and on campus; it looks like sisters who stay in Zeta all four years of college; it looks like a group of women who always have each other’s backs. Being Loyal and Committed means standing up for every sister in our chapter; it means devoting time and energy into Zeta; it means being honest & kind. This value, obviously, can be demonstrated in many ways, and, because of that, it can be seen in absolutely every aspect of our Zeta Tau Alpha. Loyalty and Commitment is on the top of Zeta’s “must have” list, and we continue to encourage and grow this value in our members by giving ample opportunities for involvement, opinion, and appreciation. L & C is near and dear to ZTA’s heart and something we deeply admire & appreciate in one another. It is the glue that makes our house unwavering; it is the reason you’ll never be alone when you have a Zeta by your side.

‘Remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was Love, “the greatest of all things.”’ Zeta Tau Alpha values Love as the sun our sisterhood revolves around. Love can be seen in every aspect of ZTA; it’s in our philanthropic efforts, our sisterhood events, our awards and honors, our recruitment operations, and in every sisters heart. Zeta hopes to inspire each sister to lead their lives with love, teaching them that everything they do should be done with love. Our sisterhood is built on a strong foundation of the love we have for each other. This foundation guides our chapter’s sisterhood by reminding us that we are friends first and to put our friendship above all else. You’ll often hear our sisters say the phrase, “ZLAM.” This phrase stands for Zeta Love and Mine and is meant to be a gift to all those who hear it, because there is truly nothing more powerful than Zeta love and a Zeta’s love. Our love is patient; our love in kind; our love is yours and mine.

LEADERSHIP 🤝🦋

‘To the have the harmony and welfare of the Fraternity at heart.’ Zeta Tau Alpha prides itself on being a group of women who lead inside and outside of our chapter. Zeta encourages and expects each member to take on the responsibility and honor leadership starting in their years as collegiate members and continuing throughout their lives post college. In Zeta, there are over 100 leadership positions to be filled; each one integral to the success and longevity of the chapter. Outside of Zeta, 100% of our members have involvement in two or more campus or community organizations & over 20% of our chapter serves in outside leadership positions. ZTA is not only a sorority that recruits leaders, but it also builds leaders. At Zeta there is always room for a woman to take charge & inspire. Zeta Tau Alpha appreciates the Nobility in leading and takes its value of leadership to heart, spreading it to every woman who walks through its doors.

‘To be humble in success, and without bitterness in defeat.’ Great leadership and nobleness comes with great humility. Zeta Tau Alpha’s value of humility lives in the hearts of every sister, following them through their lives in college and beyond, reminding them to work hard without the expectation of recognition, to admit when they are wrong, and to be gracious when being rewarded. ZTA is an organization full of dedicated women that lead with passion over reward. Zeta inspires every woman who walks through its door to be steadfast in their pursuit of nobility but to do it humbly.

BEING RATHER THAN SEEMING ☁️✨

‘To be true to ourselves, and to those within and without our circle.’ Zeta Tau Alpha values authenticity above else; this is shown through our value of Being Rather Than Seeming. At Zeta, we hold honesty and truth in the highest regard and encourage and expect our members to do the same. The authenticity flowing through Zeta’s veins creates a sisterhood full of genuine connection, honest friendship, and real sisters. Every woman in Zeta Tau Alpha is pushed to their truest self, even when things are hard, uncomfortable, or inconvenient. ZTA creates a safe place for women to explore their passions and find their authenticity, giving women the room to be exactly who they are, in a world that often wants them to be anything but. To be authentic is to be Nobel, and to be Nobel is to be a Zeta.
