With the CAFNR Tiger Classic Golf Tournament just around the corner on Sept. 18, we're excited to highlight this year's CAFNR Tiger Classic Chair, Cary Sayre, B.S. and M.S. Agricultural Engineering with a minor in Agricultural Mechanization, Professional Engineer at Allstate Consultants LLC.

Q: What makes you ?
A: I'm because agriculture is a diverse industry that impacts people's lives every day. CAFNR plays an important role in preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders by equipping students with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to make a difference.

Q: Why did you want to serve on the CAFNR Alumni Board?
A: Serving on the CAFNR Alumni Board is a meaningful way to give back to the college while helping support students and promote Mizzou. It's rewarding to stay connected to CAFNR and invest in opportunities that will benefit future generations of Tigers.

Q: What's your favorite way to connect with other CAFNR alumni?
A: I enjoy reconnecting with fellow alumni at events like the Missouri State Fair, the CAFNR Tiger Classic Golf Tournament and CAFNR Unlimited. These events are a great way to strengthen relationships, celebrate CAFNR and support the college's mission.

Thank you, Cary, for your leadership as this year's CAFNR Tiger Classic Chair and for your continued dedication to supporting CAFNR students and alumni. We look forward to seeing everyone on the course Sept. 18!

Growing up just two hours from Columbia, Anneliese Nguyen was plenty familiar with the University of Missouri. Nguyen’s mother is a Mizzou alumna, and their family made the trek west every so often for Tiger football games, band competitions or choir festivals.

As Nguyen was exploring her college options, Mizzou was toward the top of her list. Having the opportunity to sit in on an Honors College course made the university her top choice, and receiving the Stamps Scholarship made it the only choice.

ā€œThe entire Stamps Scholarship interview weekend was incredible, but the chance to be part of an Honors class was single-handedly the most important piece for me,ā€ said Nguyen, who is from St. Louis, Missouri. ā€œThat’s when I decided I was coming to Mizzou no matter what. This is an incredible opportunity, and I’m ready for the next challenge.ā€

Nguyen is one of eight Stamps Scholars beginning their college journeys this fall at Mizzou. She plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry and will be on the pre-medicine track.

Before Tabitha Musangali turned 10, she had already chosen her ideal career – cancer researcher.

ā€œI’ve dreamed of being a researcher since I was in the third grade,ā€ Musangali said. ā€œCancer research is what I’ve been most passionate about throughout my life. My grandmother died of cancer, and I’m named after her, so there is a special connection there.ā€

It’s a career that Musangali plans to continue to pursue at the University of Missouri as a biochemistry major on the pre-medicine track. Musangali is one of eight Stamps Scholars beginning their college journeys this fall at Mizzou. She will join her sister, Janet, a senior biochemistry major who is also a Stamps Scholar.
