A HUGE congratulations to our second year veterinary students, Geraline Arroyo and Lori Lind for winning first and second place respectively at the One Health Symposium Poster conference, held at the St. Louis Zoo last Friday! Truly is a testament to the quality of research conducted by both of them! Gerry won with her poster entitled, “Comparison of MALDI-ToF and PFGE for Strain-Typing Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Cow’s Milk.” Lori's second place poster was, “The Effects of Tongue Injection of CTB-SAP on Ventral Hypoglossal Motor Neurons: A Novel Model of ALS.”

Join SCAVMA for a scavenger hunt competition called Josh’s Journey and for your chance to win Littman Stethoscopes, the Veterinary Board Game, Clinic Starter Kits, and more!

Josh Project is a nationally recognized annual fundraiser hosted by SCAVMA. All funds raised are donated towards purchasing a stuffed dog named Josh and a book titled “I’ll Be Okay.” These gift sets are distributed to children’s hospitals and children of deployed military families.

We will still be hosting the annual Josh Project event in the spring, but this year, our Josh Project is two-fold with the addition of “Josh’s Journey-Scavenger Hunt”. The scavenger hunt competition will begin on October 3rd and end December 2nd! We will have a list of places and people we want you to get a photo at or with, and your goal is to get photos with a teammate of your choice in as many of these places or with as many of these people as you can from the approved list. Registration is $15 per person.

Be on the lookout for the scavenger list, rules and regulations, as well as registration, via e-mail. Contact Rhiannon Koehler (rjk6yb) or Chelsea Boutwell (cbhx3) with any questions or concerns. We are excited to see all of your amazing photos and to watch Josh Project grow!
