It’s the LAST DAY of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week!

To effectively fight antimicrobial resistance, all stakeholders must ensure the correct usage of antimicrobials within their field. In our future work with , farmers and animal owners, we will be at the frontline in the battle for . It all starts NOW, in our classrooms and during our field trainings!

OIE Key Messages: Follow the Five “Only” Rules
• Only use when prescribed by a veterinarian or animal health professional.
• Only use the dosage and follow length of treatment and withdrawal period as prescribed.
• Only use when needed: do not cure every infection!
• Only obtain from authorised sources and retailers!
• Only use when associated with good animal health care!

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week continues and just like a resistant microbe, I’m not going anywhere.

Resistant bacteria can circulate between animals, humans, and the environment. Antimicrobial resistance is therefore a global human and animal health concern. We must join forces to fight in order to preserve the efficacy of antimicrobials. World Antibiotic Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity for us to collaborate with the teaching bodies at our universities to assure that we are well educated on this pressing issue! . Speaking of teaching bodies, join IVSA in Wexner at lunch today to hear Dr. Feyes discuss challenges of AMR in the veterinary profession.

Hey everyone! IVSA has TWO exciting announcements to share! (Also, this information was sent out through email as well!)
Firstly, we are starting to finalize the list of students who will travel to Italy in the next two weeks. If you KNOW that you can go on this exchange AND help host the Italian students at the end of the summer, please fill out the link below! You do not need to be part of the IVSA committee to go! ALL SAVMA members in good standing are able to attend. However, preference will be given to students who have volunteered at IVSA events and can help us host our exchange.
