The Department of Art offers a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum in Art Education, Art History, and Studio Art. We are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Our department is part of the newly formed College of the Arts on the dynamic RiverPark Campus in the historic riverfront area. Our students participate in a robust array of courses, exhibitions, worksho

ps and lectures in state-of-the-art facilities. Our unique Visiting Artist and Scholar Residency Program provide residencies to diverse, outstanding studio artists, art historians, art critics, and curators. Our residents lead workshops or teach special courses related to their disciplines, as well as giving public lectures on their work. Between Us: Stories of the Everyday

Join CSUART Tuesday, May 19, from 6:00–7:30 PM at , 211 13th Street for the opening reception of Between Us: Stories of the Everyday, the summer exhibition at the CSUART satellite art gallery . The first exhibition will remain on view from May 16 through July 11.

Featuring work by Marji Bordner, , , , Jade Howard, , , Tia Ricks, , , and , the exhibition explores storytelling as a space of play, reflection, and connection through a feminist lens.

We had an amazing time volunteering to paint the Community Garden at Fox Elementary Senior Center with Food Mill, Leadership Columbus, Community members, and CSU student Volunteers this Saturday. This was a great way to finalize the River class project from the fall. Thank you Fox Elementary 4th Graders Art Students Community Foundations and Columbus Ga Habitat for the Humanities. Thanks for teaching your 4th graders how to design a fence that celebrates welcoming community to their garden! ❤️

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for our juror lecture with curator Jade Powers and for the students, friends, and families that attended the CSU Student Juried Exhibition reception! Your presence and support made the evening truly special and a meaningful experience for our student artists.

During spring break, Columbus State University freshman Cora Pearl James transformed a library loading dock into a vibrant mural symbolizing new life and community through the image of an open book. The project grew into a campus-wide collaboration, highlighting student creativity, experiential learning, and the university’s commitment to empowering students to make a meaningful impact!
