Gen Z embraces "bilingual breaks" for immersive travel

A trend called "bilingual breaks" is gaining favor among Generation Z, with travelers taking short trips to rural European towns to practice languages they have been studying. Research from Airbnb and Duolingo shows that Gen Z travelers are more interested in engaging with local cultures than visiting tourist hotspots, and the partnership between the two companies offers a discount to encourage this type of travel.

Full Story: The Sacramento Bee:

Gen Z’s newest travel trend swaps tourist hotspots for language immersion and rural European escapes.

The International Society of Muslim Women in Science (ISMWS), founded by Ohio State’s Professor Sultana N. Nahar, has launched a new chapter at the University of Barishal in Bangladesh. The chapter’s inaugural “Stay in Science” program brought together students, faculty, and university leadership to celebrate and support women pursuing STEM fields.

The Barishal chapter adds to a growing network of ISMWS chapters across the United States, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia, and now Bangladesh. ISMWS currently counts more than 500 members in 34 countries, linking students, faculty, and professionals and creating pipelines for mentorship, research collaboration, and graduate study. It held, along with Indo-US STEM Education and Research Center of OSU and Aligarh Muslim University, an international symposium , participated by 10 countries, to observe the International Women's Day 2026 in March and published the 4th volume of the e-magazine An-Nisa for women in STEM.
