CMRS is an interdisciplinary humanities center in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University dedicated to the study of European history and culture from the Roman Empire through the Early Modern period, along with analogous developments in the Far East and Africa. The Center's activities promote teaching and research in all aspects of medieval and Renaissance culture, including

art, music, literature, religion, history, philosophy, and government. Each year, the Center hosts a lecture series on an annual theme, a film series, several faculty colloquia, medieval Latin and Occitan reading groups, and more. 📷 by : This past Saturday, April 11, the Demo Lab had the pleasure of presenting the ancient practice of alchemy at the medieval renaissance faire! ☀️

As it turns out, when you take away the mystical components, alchemy is very similar to early chemistry! Alchemists practiced similar basic laboratory techniques and carried out experiments in the same way we do today! 🧪⚗️🧑‍🔬
