Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy OSU Battelle Center was established at The Ohio State University's John Glenn College of Public Affa

OSU Battelle Center was established at the Ohio State Univerity's John Glenn College of Public Affairs in 2006 through the generosity of Battelle, the world’s largest non-profit research and development organization. Originally focused on improving STEM education it shifted its mission towards the challenges of encouraging innovation and economic development in science, space, and technology. The

partnership between Battelle and the Glenn College was strengthened in recent years with the inclusion of Ohio State’s College of Engineering in the center.

Student Spotlight: Kaitlyn Reed

Kaitlyn is a recent graduate who obtained her dual degree in: Political Science with a Cooperation, Conflict, Violence Specialization and Public Management, Leadership and Policy. She also minored in Spanish and Women’s and Gender Public Policy.

Kaitlyn took part in the Battelle Center’s PUBAFRS 5620 Rapid Innovation for Public Impact where she acted as a contract consultant for Smart Columbus. “My team and I created an innovative ‘funnel solution’ to help connect OSU students, graduates and alumni with off campus resources during transition periods (for example graduation, off semesters, etc.) where on campus resources do not traditionally cover them.”
Through the course, Kaitlyn was connected with her team’s mentor Phoebe Baker, a Glenn College Alum, who helped her secure a post grad job at Deloitte GPS consulting in Chicago.

We are excited to see where this next chapter with Deloitte takes Kaitlyn and all that she will accomplish in the future!
