The Department of Communication at Columbus State University combines 21st century communication practices in public relations, integrated media, film and core principles of communication-- both in the classroom and outside of it. The faculty and staff bring industry standard knowledge and professional experience to the classroom to prepare students to enter the 21st century workforce, where commu
nication proficiency is the strongest skill demand of prospective employers. Graduates of our program are entering careers in journalism, public relations, marketing, corporate communication, health communication, human resources management, corporate management consulting, counseling, teaching, public sector communication, political communication, and nonprofit work. What sets our program apart is the focus on putting students in a real world setting working with local nonprofit organizations to provide communication solutions through our Non-Profit and Civic Engagement (NPACE) Center. Among our Chattahoochee Valley partners are United Way, Boys & Girls Club, and Girls Scouts of Historic Georgia. In the process, we enhance the quality of civic life in the region, and students build 2-4 years of degree-relevant professional experience that will help set their portfolio apart from other graduates.
