LLM student highlights continue!

👋Meet Yilun! Yilun Peng is from Dongguan, Guangdong, China, and holds a Bachelor of Law degree from China University of Geosciences and a Master of Law degree from China University of Political Science. Yilun’s journey to OSU started in high school when he visited campus by chance. With fond memories of the visit, years later, he returned to campus as an LLM student.

With a deep interest in dispute resolution and environmental law. Yilun believes that a conducive environment is essential for high-quality development, and various dispute resolution measures can address environmental issues even before actual damage occurs. After graduation, Yilun will continue his pursuit to be a lawyer who focuses on the environment and climate change.

A fun fact about Yilun is that he is an avid volleyball player! By continuing playing while at OSU, he has made a lot of great friends through the open recreation event at RPAC.

We look forward to seeing all you do in the world, Yilun!

👋 Meet Krenare Zajmi!

A Fulbrighter from Kosovo, Krenare’s journey in law and business has been shaped by diverse experiences, beginning with her bachelor’s degree in law. Following her education, Krenare delved into the corporate world, serving as an in-house counsel for a prominent corporation in Kosovo, which spearheaded the opening of the largest shopping mall in Southeast Europe. During her professional experience, Krenare’s focus primarily revolved around transactional practice, commercial leasing, and corporate governance, while also leading significant negotiations with both national and renowned international brands.

Krenare decision to pursue further education as an LLM student at Moritz College of Law stems from a desire to deepen her knowledge and gain practical experience in the US. Krenare is particularly interested in exploring leadership dynamics, as she aspires to contribute as a leader in the business world. As an LLM student, Krenare has taken every opportunity to enhance her skill set. Krenare serves as the LLM Senator, representing the LLM students and implementing changes within the academic community. This role helped Krenare to further develop her leadership skills and deepen her understanding of the importance of effective representation. Furthermore, Krenare is undertaking an externship at Abercrombie & Fitch Co. in Data Privacy, where she is gaining valuable practical experience in a specialized field within a prominent company and a global retail leader.

Krenare’s ultimate goal is to leverage the knowledge and experience gained from Moritz to empower and facilitate business operations in Kosovo. Krenare sees herself as a bridge between the advanced practices obtained during her LLM studies and the evolving business landscape in her home country. By bringing back valuable insights and skills, she aims to contribute to Kosovo’s development and foster a more inclusive and dynamic business environment.

We’re thrilled to have you at Ohio State and Moritz, Krenare!

As the spring semester is coming to an end, we’d like to highlight some of our LLM students!

First to be highlighted is Ana Shiu Luo.

👋 Meet Ana! Ana was born in Lima, Peru, and spent her formative years in the vibrant city of Guangzhou, China, situated near the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong. Her education and career in law spans nearly a decade, during which she studied for her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law and served as a corporate counsel in Beijing, China, working predominantly with technology-focused Chinese firms. Ana’s expertise lies in contract review, legal compliance, and resolving business disputes. Ana’s professional journey has intersected with U.S. clients and companies, sparking a keen interest in the American legal system and business practices.

Currently, Ana is embarking on an exciting new chapter in Columbus, Ohio, marking her first foray into the United States. Her curiosity and desire to deepen her understanding of the U.S. legal system drove her to pursue an LLM at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Inside of Moritz, Ana particularly enjoyed the LLM Legal writing class by Professor Katrina Lee. Outside of Moritz, Ana has spent a lot of time networking with people from various backgrounds and traveling around the US!

Thanks for being such a wonderful LLM student, Ana!

Each year, a team of four LLM students is selected to participate in the annual LLM International Arbitration Moot Competition organized and hosted by the American University Washington College of Law. Through this competition, students hone their lawyering skills and gain a deeper knowledge of international commercial and investment arbitration.

This year, LLM students: Satleen Birdi, Imogen Bosanko, Yilun Peng, and Krenare Zajmi competed in the moot court competition in Washington DC. They did a great job, and we are so proud of them!

Special thanks to Favour Osa Oni and Assistant Dean Tra Pham, who served as the LLM moot court team’s coaches.
