From our YLI End-of-Program Celebration straight to the stage🧑🏽‍🩰!

Our young leaders continue to shine, showing that leadership, hard work, and joy can all go hand in hand. We celebrated their accomplishments and then cheered them on as they showcased their talents through dance at The WHEREHOUSE’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream 🩰. So proud of these amazing young people and all they have achieved this year!

🩷💚 This past Saturday, our Empower Our Families Committee celebrated the conclusion of the final cycle of the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) with a Culminating Ceremony and light breakfast.

Over the past several months, these young leaders have challenged themselves through meaningful experiences designed to prepare them for the future. We were proud to recognize their growth, dedication, and accomplishments with certificates of completion.

A heartfelt thank you to the students, parents, committee chairman, and committee members whose support and commitment made this program possible. Investing in our youth today helps build stronger leaders for tomorrow.

🩷💚 Black Dollar Days are almost here! 🩷💚

This June, we invite every member to join us for the final Black Dollar Days of the Soaring Administration.

Through the power of intentional spending, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® members have invested more than $50 million in Black-owned businesses during this administration. This June, we’re building on that legacy with a goal of spending $8 million more.

Every Pink Friday, we encourage Sisters to “Wear Pink, Spend Green, and Buy Black” by spending at least $19.08 with a Black-owned business.

Show off your economic power and Sisterhood spirit on social media! Share your purchases using , , , and tag .

Grab your favorite pink outfit, your FMO Federal Credit Union™ debit card, and your Sister Squad. Together, let’s continue to Build Our Economic Wealth®.

Our YLI leaders continue to make an impact through service and awareness!

Leaders spent time writing heartfelt cards for nursing home residents to spread joy, encouragement, and kindness as part of their community service project. They also participated in a powerful Mental Health Awareness Month workshop, “Shatter the Silence,” focused on su***de prevention and the importance of checking in on one another.

We are proud of these young leaders for using their voices, compassion, and actions to make a difference in the community!

🎉 Congratulations to SaPerior Patton of Starkville, Mississippi for being selected as the 2026 recipient of our Uplift Our Local Community Service Award.

SaPerior is an advocate, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a concentration in Sociology. As a faithful member of Peters Rock Family Worship Center, she serves as Chief Financial Officer of the finance team. SaPerior is the founder of Safe Place Foundation, Inc. and serves as President of the nonprofit organization’s board. She has more than 20 years of experience working with at-risk youth and is passionate about creating positive change within the community.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, SaPerior launched the Earth Angels outreach program. Through this initiative, she helped secure immediate and permanent shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness, provided approximately 60,000 free meals to those in need, hosted Community Wash Days to ensure children had clean clothes and comforters, offered life skills classes for youth, organized Christmas giveaways, and so much more.

SaPerior has received several honors, including the Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero Award, the Key to the Community Award presented by the Business Empowered International–Mississippi Chamber of Commerce, the 2023 Juneteenth Humanitarian Award, and the Y.A.M.S. Women’s Empowerment Award. Most recently, she was named the 2024 “Woman of the Year” by Starkville Daily News. We are proud to add to her list of recognitions by selecting her for this award.

SaPerior’s ultimate goal is to open a community center and therapeutic group home for homeless children. Through her mission, she continues to be a voice for the voiceless and strives to provide resources, hope, and change for the less fortunate. Her favorite quote is, “When you serve others with a full heart, you never leave empty.”

🎉 Congratulations once again, SaPerior, and THANK YOU for all you do to uplift the community.
