When April attended Ohio State, her education opened new ways of seeing the world around her. Classes in art history, African American literature and anthropology sparked a curiosity that would eventually become central to her work as an artist.

Today, the Columbus-based artist creates colorful portraits of women inspired by prominent figures who shaped her life. Each piece contains a purposeful gaze that conveys identity, strength and beauty.
