CSEEES and the other Area Studies Centers recently concluded the ninth year of the K-14 Global Fellowship Program. Since its launch, the Fellowship has brought together educators from across the United States—and, since moving online in 2020, from international schools abroad—to explore contemporary global issues through regionally-grounded, discussion-based sessions. The 2025-26 program focused on the theme Global Tech Innovations, offering participants a comparative look at how societies around the world develop, adapt, and regulate technologies that shape daily life. Through region-specific sessions, educators examined technological landscapes across Africa, East Asia, Eastern Europe/Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East, gaining insight into how communities use technology to address local needs and global challenges.

POLISH 5230: Polish Literature Subverting National Paradigms: The Jewish “Return,” LGBTQ+ Representation and Other Trends in Post-Communist Polish Culture and Media
Days/Time:WF 12:45-2:05 PM
Instructor: Dr. Diana Sacilowski
This course explores how literature, film, visual art, and activist projects have challenged and reshaped ideas of Polish identity in the Post Communist era. Focusing on the rise of Jewish themes since the 1980s, as well as representations of women, LGBTQ+ communities, and shifting narratives of memory and history, the class examines how these cultural trends subverted homogenizing stories about Polish society. Together, these works reveal new, more plural understandings of what it means to be Polish.
